Downtown Wichita continues to flourish with development and art despite pandemic
August 26, 2020 | ksn.comThe Caldwell Murdock building at 111 E. Douglas, near the ICT Pop-Up Urban Park, has recently been brightened up by local artists. The building has sat vacant since the mid-1990s, but Emily Brookover-McMillian, director of community development for Downtown Wichita, tasked local artists to add some color to the building front.
Local artist Delilah Reed and several friends finished the project over a seven-day period, using tempura paint on the inside of the windows to add colorful hearts and designs. Reed says, “This project was Emily’s idea, and her thoughts on it and what she was trying to achieve with this project was to create love and excitement…So, I kind of feel like it’s a little love note to Wichita.”
